Subject: Cheated by Modern Impression Design



I have placed a deposit of $1500 for a sofa which I purchased from Modern Impression Design located in The Furniture Mall. The deposit was made in March 2005 and delivery was supposed to be made by May 2005. Till this day, I have yet to receive my sofa as the furniture retailer MID has closed down!

I have tried to seek help from all available means to get my hard earned money back but to no avail. I have gone to the police, CASE and Small Claims Tribunal. All 3 of them could not help me at all. Best of all is SCT, I had to fork out another $105 for then to tell me they cannot help me. I coudn't conduct any Writ of Seizure and Sales against MID as another company, Hotel Plaza, the landlord of MID's retail shop had earlier filed a seizure!

Now I am at a total loss as to what I should do to claim my money back. I have even resorted to seek help from my MP and 3 weeks have passed and I have yet to hear from him. I am deeply disappointed that errant retailers like MID can get away scot-free with such unscrupulous acts of swindling money from hapless consumers.
