Golfkakis, you may create your own id but please always identify yourself with a recognizable id at the end of your comments so that we know who it is who is responding. Have fun.

Organizer of tournaments -- Pete, 01:10:27 08/30/05 Tue [2]
I am OK with anyone organizing the next event...we should try and spread this task to other members rather than keeping it with the same people all the time.

Re: Organizer of tournaments -- Ronald Quek, 01:11:28 08/30/05 Tue [1]
If is disheartening and demotivating for the champion to organize the next event, then how would the 3rd placed winner feel about organizing the next event - it will be worse since the 3rd placed winner doesn't even win anything. I think it is only fair that the winner does the organizing as a goodwill gesture - we should make it less painful by not expecting any sponsorship of souvenirs in the next event. Ronald Quek

Re: Organizer of tournaments -- Winston, 01:13:44 08/30/05 Tue [1]
why don't we get the last organiser to guide the new winner to arrange the next golf tournament and let it roll accordingly. If the winner has won the previous tournament, then the runner up will have to double. Of course, provost not doing a good job cutting the winner's handicap if he keeps winning every tournament.. ha, ha!

Call for New Commitee Members -- Pete, 01:48:26 08/30/05 Tue [3]
As we approach the end of the year, it is time to consider new committee members.
Firstly I thank all the present committee members for doing an outstanding job (in spite of getting the undeserved negative remarks every now and then). I have been most honoured to have served together with you all.
As I have been involved with the GK group since its foundation, I think it is time for me to take a deserved break from the frontline.
I shall be most happy to help with the website and scoring but I would like to pass the baton to someone else for the posts of Secretary and Treasurer.
Please submit your proposals, or better still, volunteer yourself to serve in this happy group of kakis.
All the best,
Pete..

Re: Call for New Commitee Members -- Ronald Quek, 19:42:55 08/30/05 Tue [1]
We should call a AGM in Dec 05 immediately after the GK tournament and at the same time select new office bearers. We can become advisors and let new members step in to volunteer their service. In this way, there is continuity and new office bearers are helped and guided to perform their tasks. I wish to step down by the end of the year and I am giving advanced notice now. Thanks.
Regards,
Ron

Feedback from some GK members are as follows:
1. Find a suitable President who will help to get sponsors for our events.
Some volunteers have aready been identified:
1. Scorer - KH Seow
2. Projects (like overseas trips) - Melvin Ho
Thanks to these GK members who have volunteered. We are looking for more volunteers to join in the task of making the GK group function smoothly and organizing events for all to enjoy. So please step forward and offer yourself in a position that you find suitable.
Cheers,
Pete..

BEWARE OF CON SHOP AT KRETA AYER ROAD -- Angela, 01:23:19 07/18/08 Fri [1]
I have bought the golf putter on 2nd May 2008 from Golf Works Masters located at Kreta Ayer Road . Last week, I realised the club head became rusty despite I have only used for less than 10 times (most of the times at the practice green on weekends).
I went to the shop on 13 Jul 2008 to query the boss of Golf Works Masters and his name is Jimmy. He was the one who sold me the putter and why he did not inform me the putter would turn rusty after use. Frankly speaking, I have told him that I was just a beginner in golf and did not know anything about golf clubs. I hope he could give me sincere and professional advices on which clubs would be more suitable for a beginner like me. Instead, he recommended a putter (Wilson brand) which cost S$390 after 20% discount. After the purchase, most people who saw my putter commented the shop has seriously overcharged me for only an average putter because a fairly good putter may only cost an average of S$200 plus. In this incident, I did not confront Jimmy as I have no evidence that he has overcharged me for the item. What make me furious was that if he has made me pay almost double for an item, he should have the courtesy to inform me that this putter (the kind of material used) was meant to be rusty after use. In addition, most golfers know that only some wedge club will become rusty (due to the material used for these kind of clubs) but never heard that the putter will become rusty and so quickly.
The boss, Jimmy argued that he has no obligation to inform me this putter is meant to be rusty even I told him I was a greenhorn in golf. He did not even bother to try and rectify my problem but instead insisted he should not held responsible for my case. I have checked with other pro shops and most sales staffs told me that it is their duty to inform the customers that which clubs will meant to be rusty as not all customers can accept rusty clubs.
I strongly believe that his kind of attitude should be reprimanded and being the fact that he was dishonest to his customers.
The address and name of the shop is as follows:
GOLF WORKS MASTERS PTE LTD
BLK 333 KRETA AYER ROAD
#02-24
SINGAPORE 080333
MY ADVICE IS NEVER PATRONISE THE ABOVE SHOP DUE TO THE DISHONESTY AND POOR AFTER SALES SERVICE!

I once encountered problems with the service. There was one time that the sales agent doesn't even know the specifications of the product he's selling. I really snapped right then and there.
