Subject: LAUNCH OF THE BBC - A MEMBER'S PERSPECTIVE - correct version!

It was a great start to the BBC - I understand that there are now over 160 paid-up members. Attendance at the opening night exceeded all expectations, no seats for many, & some latecomers unfortunately had to be turned away as the maximum number allowed under fire regulations etc had been reached - not the fault of the organisers who deserve our hearty thanks & congratulations for setting this up! These minor teething problems will be resolved by making future events advance booking only - so apply for your tickets early if you want to go! All of this may sound as if I'm involved in organising this, but I'm not, I'm just a simple blues fanatic, grateful for this new facility, who's gleaned a few facts over the local blues grapevine.
Back to the opening night - "Blues Infusion" played well, and for no fee to help lauch the BBC (perhaps it's no co-incidence that guitarist Lee is one of the guys who set this up). People even started dancing in a fairly paralytic way for the last few numbers, by which time most were well oiled. The audience were, in the main, a fairly mature bunch of blues devotees, much grey hair & beards, bald heads & beer bellies in evidence (& that's just the women). I understand that our hosts, New Panteg Rugby Club, were delighted with the sales of certain substances, mainly liquid, but they didn't run out! Nobody threw up in the toilets or outside, & there were no fights, so they were well chuffed. If you want to go to the next thrash on Saturday 1st october, I'd book your tickets soon, because if that b*gger from Tin Pan Alley brings his full drum kit there won't be much room.
So a good start & many thanks to all concerned.
Dr Dick (the bass) Harding
