Dear Leonardo,

In your paragraph you used two quotations, from Richards (2003) and Grabe (2002). However, the way you cited them is the way used when you are paraphrasing an author. Since you wrote both quotations within double quotation marks, I understood that you are actually citing a sentence from the text they have written. If I’m right, you must provide the author, year, and specific page of the citation in your text; e.g. (Grabe, 2002, p.222). On the other hand, if you have paraphrased you must remove the inverted commas.

Regarding the structure of your paragraph, I reckon that you don’t have a topic sentence. I think that this is your fourth paragraph, and that you ought to go back to your outline :

IV The importance of developing technical reading skills
A. The importance of authentic materials
B. The importance of different cognitive styles
C. The importance of Grabe´s approaches (2002)

I believe that a topic sentence about the importance of “developing technical reading skills” and how it is related to the features you are going to write about in A,B and C would organize your work in a better way. Don’t forget that you are supposed to write a paragraph which is topically focused.

I hope the comments are helpful for you. If you have any doubts, please let me know.
Best wishes,

Luis
