Florance occasionally played solo at the 12th Gate in Atlanta. She was excellent on the guitar and the best singer around. This was in 1967, maybe 68. She was on the Ed Sullivan show right after releasing that first record.

"Up in the morning" with a cord change from G to B minor. Flo made it look so easy.

I was scanning old pictures and ran across a picture of her at the 12th gate. I wondered whatever happened to her and did a search. Nice to know she did okay.

I recall an introduction she would do. Something like, "I'm going to play Kansas is my state of mind". She would pause, shake her head, and then say "I've never been in Kansas". That was a long time ago; so, the quote might not be exactly correct.

Ron! Great information! I never knew Florence played The 12th Gate and would love to see her picture performing there. Would you post it here or send it to me so I may post it?

For those of you unfamiliar with the 12th Gate, it was originally a Christian coffeehouse at 10th & Spring Street in Atlanta which Joe Roman and Robin Feld help turn into a popular concert club for national acts. It operated until the mid or late `70's.

And I never knew she appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. I missed so much in the late 60's and 70's. I wish someone would find that appearance and post it on YouTube so we could all enjoy it.
