This year I've decided to change the format of players of the week a little bit to make it a little more respectable. Last year we went by point totals, but had no limit, and best to my memory we had a week where we had a 3 way tie for 1st, a 5 way tie for 2nd and a 3 way tie for third, meaning 11 players were players of the week. This year if this happens, I'd only consider the 3 in 1st to be players of the week (so in other words, ONLY 3 players will make the cut this year). Should there be 1 in 1st, 1 in 2nd and 2 in 3rd, then I will include the final 2 players in 3rd to make it four.

Also, goalies will be kept seperate from forwards and defencemen. Defencemen will not have their own category still, as proven last year that they can make the top 3 many weeks.

Anyways, here are the players of the week for 10/09/06-10/15/06:

1. Brendan Shanahan (Virginia/Lindsay) with 9 points
2. Brian Gionta (Derek) with 8 points
2. Olli Jokinen (Mark) with 8 points

Goalie: Manny Fernandez (Scott) with 9 points.
