Juan, I'm a Canucks fan, I didn't jump off the wagon even after the team got eliminated from the playoffs. I do admit though, there are some pretty dumb hockey fans in Vancouver, but that goes for every sport in every city.

As for Sakic and Selanne, lets look at how the two contributed to the pool. Joe Sakic put up 32G and 55A, while Selanne put up 40G and 50A.

Now, although Selanne scored a contributed a whopping 3 more points then Sakic this year, Selanne, as Chris pointed out, has done shit all the past few years. Plus Selanne has the leadership of a goat.

You cannot put the blame of the captain for a team not winning a championship. If you did Juan, 29 captains would change every year on teams. Joe Sakic is not responsible for Canada playing below its standards, that blame goes to the team itself and the man who picked it (Gretzky). He is not responsible for Colorado having a subpar season by its standards. Goaltending, and the loss of a few big time players, not to mention being in one of if not the toughest division in the league contributed to that.

Yes Juan, as it goes for players on a hot streak, having Selanne right now would be my pick. But in the long term, I'd want Sakic, and I still would for the next two or three years over Selanne.
