Subject: Food Drop (remember that?) vs. Daniel's Experiment

Every so often I foolishly begin thinking about LOST and trying to piece things together. I seldom make any progress but often worry the writers are now just making stuff up as they go along.

Along those lines, one thing from long ago that I always wondered about now bothers me more when juxtaposed with Daniel's payload experiment.

The food drop that happened when they triggered something in the Swan station. It seemed to come fairly quickly after the trigger, I recall. So didn't seem like much of the time/space distortion we saw with the recent experiment. So is it possible that the food drop was an automated drone sent from somewhere else on the island? And if from outside, who sent it, and why no time delay, etc.

Comments?

Help me out here, Joe. You often have a good idea about these things!

It's Dharma food, presumably sent to be given to the Dharma Initiative people on the island. Those people are all dead now, and thus they can't be ordering any drops, so the fact that the food keeps coming suggests that the deliveries are automated somehow.

I'm guessing it's being dropped by an independent contractor hired by Dharma. Two reasons for this:

1: I'm operating under the assumption that Naomi's team is from Dharma, sent to bring down Ben and the island natives he fell in with, and to establish a new base to continue on with the work that was being done before the massacre. If the food-droppers were also Dharma, Naomi's team could have just dropped in from their plane instead of bringing a chopper and nearly crashing.
2: A different group from Dharma wouldn't know about all the craziness going down on Craphole Island, and that the Dharma people are all dead, and thus might not know not to bother dropping food anymore.

Remember, the freighter is entirely off the island. The plane dropping the food was directly over it when it dropped. So I'm guessing that the plane was within the area where the time Island's time is affected, and the freighter is outside of it, so the freighter's rocket got a delay and the plane's food drop wasn't.
