Subject: I've finally seen last night's episode, and I've cooked up a few theories.
It's looking like I was right about the "salvaged" 815 being a fake. I love it when I'm right. :-)
Also, I'm thinking the boat people are with Dharma. Ben was responsible for betraying the Dharma people on the island and getting them all killed, remember? So now Dharma's hunting him down. All Ben's tales of how they're there to hurt the island are just his way of manipulating the situation so he can prevent his inevitable capture.
I'm also trying to work out why these four specific people were chosen for this mission. My best guess is that they were all civilians who ended up stumbling upon Dharma's dealings; the pilot dude figured out the found 815 was a hoax, and Charlotte found an old Dharma bear. Dharma wanted them to keep quiet about it, and the best way they could do that was to bring them onboard with the company.
I like Wanda's theory that Dan was freaking out at the 815 news coverage because it seemed the plane was found somewhere other than he'd projected it would be. I dunno how that specifically ties into Dan working for Dharma, but I'm guessing he pressed the issue and the Dharma people eventually came and scooped him up.
And did anyone else find it oddly conspicuous that they didn't show the face of the woman asking him why he was freaking out? It's gotta be somebody significant. My best guess at the moment is that it was Libby.

Scratch that Libby theory. -- Joe, Friday, February 08, 11:46:13pm [1] (c-76-108-202-26.hsd1.fl.comcast.net/76.108.202.26)
On account of her being on the island and dead and all. I dunno what I was thinking there.
But I'm still convinced it'll be somebody significant.

I agree with all your theories. Odd thought about Libby... -- veggie, Saturday, February 09, 12:27:13am [1] (s89641-2.savvis-internet.uslsan3-bsn.savvis.net/209.223.191.18)
The island seems to be rather capricious about who it raises from the dead. Charlie returns but Boone, Libby, Shannon don't. We know the shack doesn't cause it in all cases because Jack hasn't been to the shack, but saw Christian.
I thought the female voice sounded like Juliet.

It couldn't have been Juliet either, since she was on the island long before 815 even crashed.
The only female characters that I can think of offhand that wouldn't have been on the island are Jack's ex-wife and Penny. I think Jack's ex knew he was on 815, and thus she would have been more interested in the news report, so that rules her out. And she didn't have Penny's accent, not to mention it would be hella-wonky for her to be shackin up with this new guy but still looking for Desmond. So either I'm forgetting someone or it's a character that hasn't been unveiled yet.
Or I guess it's possible they didn't show her face because she isn't important and that was Dan's introductory scene, and I'm reading into it too much, haha.

What about... -- Gabs, Sunday, February 10, 05:58:10am [1] (146-45.cable.senselan.ch/83.222.146.45)
Juliet's sister? Nadia, Sayid's long lost love? Kate's Mom? Might be somewhat far fetched but I agree that it's probably someone significant.
