Call me crazy, but after this weekend's pageant, and analyzing who won, I'm going to be choosing my pageants more carefully. I'm not just going to go to a pageant because a woman tells me my daughter is 'beautiful' just to get me to come to her pageant.

My daughter has won supremes and overalls at numerous nationals, it's not sour grapes, it's just that in other pageants that my daughter has won, she's won a proportionate amount of money back.

I'm also not going to spend over 1000 on a pageant my daughter only can win back not even all of her money.

Furthermore, I will NOT take my daughter to a pageant in which the director is a coach, or has a strong tie to a coach. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but after seeing the outcome of the pageant, it's blatantly obvious.

My family has gotten by quite well for sometime, and we'll be getting along even better now that we won't be lining the director's pockets anymore with outrageously priced optionals. 95.00 to wear a swimwear on stage that if my daughter were fortunate enough to win in their age group received a toy with a big lots sticker torn off of it.

I'll admit, the luggage was nice and the stuffed cheetahs were too, but for 1000+ I could have just went and bought a full set for my daughter, and take her to build a bear for way less.

Now, it was my choice to pay hair and makeup, but let me analyze the cost:

210.00 - hotel
250.00 - hair and make up
40.00 - Tanning
50.00 - coaching
1000.00- Entry Fee
90.00 - door badges
100.00 - gas
100.00 - food
100.00 - (miscellaneous lashes, glue, nails, etc)

1,900+ for this weekend. That is more than some people make in a month.

My daughter won queen in her division, and came back with a 400.00 bond - 200.00 cash.


I guess I was blinded by the grand illusion that pageants are still fair and my daughter had a chance to win - but I realized that if you are an ass kisser to a vendor, then you won't win CRAP at a pageant.
