In an attempt to appeal to Randi Rhodes, or at least to some of her listeners, that her views are not in step with many in the Progressive movement in Portland, I posted this statement to her forum;

First let me say that I have been a Rhodes listener since the "Air America" days, and even though we seem to be drifting apart politically, I STILL listen to the show almost every day.

Many of you will not like what I have to say, but this IS a forum for "Discussion", so here goes!

I reside in the Portland area, and I can tell you that she is losing touch with MANY of the Progressives out here.

WE are getting geared up for a political fight that she does not seem to understand any longer.

I saw it coming, and EVEN BEFORE the Wisconsin crisis, I saw the need for the Progressive Movement to get "fired -up".

And yet, when I expressed this need for urgency, the followers on THIS FORUM attacked me with SO MUCH VENOM, that I walked out of this forum.

Sadly it took the NIGHTMARE DRAMA of Wisconsin and Michigan to make some us realize that the time to take action had already passed, and NOW we have to play catch up.

Saturday was the 8th anniversary of the Iraq war, and there were demonstrations ALL OVER this country, and yet the media, INCLUDING The Randi Rhodes Show, choose to IGNORE them[us].

I ALSO did not see any mention of these events in this Forum, are not SOME of you in this forum from Portland? Did you go? Did you EVEN KNOW about it?

Even though the demonstrations "here" were, for the most part respectful of the President, it was OBVIOUS from the words of the guest speakers, the responses from the attendees, and the messages on the signs and banners, that we were NOT in approval of his foreign policy.

In IRONY, while we were busting our humps protesting Iraq, Afganistan and Pakistan, the Obama Administration attacked Libya before the March EVEN ENDED,[NICE TIMING Mr. President!] That did NOT go over very well, in fact WE saw it as a SLAP in the FACE.

ANOTHER Irony is that the 19th ALSO happens to be the "anniversary" of our attack on Iraq, which was why we were out there protesting in the 1st place!

I want you to see TWO VIDEOS, the FIRST is from the Portland Peace Rally/March on Saturday that drew THOUSANDS!

This second video was from a FREE BRADLEY MANNING demonstration organized by my own daughter Bethany[13] with her FaceBook account, it was organized in FIVE DAYS!

Her Rally was more low key, BUT considering it was organized by a 13 year old in LESS than a week, I think it is a REAL demonstration of TRUE grass roots democracy in action!

Even though there were THOUSANDS at the "Peace" rally[I estimate 1500/some said 3000], the ONLY coverage the event got was a small piece in the paper that claimed 400, but the VIDEO tells a DIFFERENT story!

BOTH of these events paint a similar picture.

I saw PALESTINIAN and JEWISH demonstrators standing SIDE BY SIDE, as well as Buddhists, Muslims, and VARIOUS Christian groups!

All agreeing on the same themes, STOP THE WARS, FREE BRADLEY MANNING, and TOTAL DISAPPROVAL of the way the Obama administration is handling BOTH situations.

LISTEN to the WORDS SPOKEN, and READ the BANNERS and SIGNS, and look at the NUMBERS, and the PASSION, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, look into the faces of the crowd, they don't fit the unfair stereotype of the the so called "Liberal Elitists" [whatever that means]

EVEN if we are WRONG, you need to KNOW what WE are FEELING out here in PORTLAND, we SHOULD be on the same side, but right now, we DO NOT see eye to eye!
