Subject: From the national message board: I think this is one of the best messages ever posted on a message board!!! It speaks volumes of the truth!

Thank you, above posters. That is exactly what I am trying to say about Community Hall.

I've noticed that it is not near as populated as it had been in years past. I think people have gotten sick of it for the reasons stated above. It's not a good place to sit and exchange ideas. And for that reason, the censorship, the feeling of getting attacked, or having your "loyalty" questioned, who in the world wants to put up with that?

Those people can say whatever they want, but the truth is, most to all of them read these boards. It's not a crime to read these boards. They are set up anonymously. This board is more reflective of real life than Community Hall is. There is sniping behind people's backs in the pageant world. There are real problems, there are girls like Jenna Edwards who would go belly up after their year of service. It is not a perfect world.

Right now, this organization is not in minor jeopardy. It is in dire straits. It is close to folding. You would not think that it would ever happen, but it could. CMT guaranteed us a date for this year and for 2007, and "options" until 2011. If we perform, we get on TV. If we don't, sayonara. The fact that we left network TV is scary. We all knew it was coming, but was there no options available otherwise? Sometimes I think had Trump not been involved we would have landed back on the ratings challenged NBC. But that's neither her nor there.

The leadership is POOR. Even with the likes of Phyllis George on the board, all of the formers fighting for the future of this organization, many of their hands are tied. What can you do? Art decided NOT to go back to Atlantic City. That was HIS decision. Atlantic City did not want them to leave, but he pulled out anyway. The only reason Atlantic City left him out of the contract is because he went in crying "the pageant will go under if we stay here". As it looks now, they are having problems securing a location for the pageant. It was announced in June or July that we had signed a contract with CMT. It is now the middle of October. It's likely that we will find out 60 days before the pageant. But you see, none of this is good. I know that CMT has promised an all out advertising blitz but as far as planning, you are looking at an extremely limited period of time to put together a stellar show, form relationships, etc.

Despite all of this, the Community Hall "optimists" are saying that this is all about growth, change is good, we will come out even stronger in the end. Hello! Could it possibly get any worse here? No, NO it cannot get any worse than right now, bar we not get a television contract. Yet, this is the best times ever, etc. It's good to maintain hope for the future, but if we are not grounded in reality, there IS no future. This could be one of the last pageants we will ever see. The fact that we are on cable television is signs that this pageant is on life support. But we are just supposed to be "optimistic", and believe that "our best days are ahead".

Dr. Phil always says you can't change what you don't acknowledge. I think this cock-eyed optimism you see at the board is reflective of the inability at the top to look problems square in the eye. Art has never ONCE acknowledged the seriousness of the situation. Our pageant is knocking at death's door, and THAT is the reality?

What are we supposed to look forward to? The fact that our pageant is dying? Can we be optimistic 5 years from now when the pageant is no more? Are those the good times ahead? That is exactly what is going to happen. This is not a growth period, this is a dying period. I'm NOT going to be optimistic and look towards the future of this program where there is none.

So, yes, it does get on my nerves. I guess the Community Hall solution would be for me "not to read" the board. Maybe I will do that.
