From a response by Glen, I can see we were too wrapped up in saying "I'm not that kind of girl" and telling what happened last night to really address his question.
He put it more specifically.
1) When did you start smoking?

2) When did you lose your virignity?
Had my first cigarette rather late at 17 in the summer before my senior year in high school. I was really not hooked until beginning college preparation the next summer.
A friend of mine had her first cigarette with me and needed cigarettes daily within months.
Losing virginity and sexually active as you put it before may be two different things. The first guy was exciting and came early in college. When he jumped in another direction, I vowed to not make that mistake again. It took months to make that mistake. So, active was one thing. Selective would be the word.
My friend can speak for her own activity but I can say she never lost respectibility. She did marry and have a baby more than two years before me.
Hardly anyone wants to be put in the category that "I smoke so I f... and am not very selective about it.
Probably there are not that many more smokers who fit that non-selective category as non-smokers who are non-selective.
