Gosh, I went to church with Albert today. Last night, a large part of the family gathered for dinner. There were some extras. My former Dreamboat and his wife are becoming part of the family since their youngest son is going with my youngest daughter Michelle.
The smoking he taught to me has returned. It left me at the end of my freshman year in college and stayed away for years as I polished my image almost daily.
He left me 4 months sooner, jumping to Rachel, who smokes to this day.
The subject came up again as Emily, my 20-year-old granddaughter lit up. "You smoke too, Em," Michelle asked. "Not too much," Emily said. Being the grandmother who maintains the house they call home while going to college, I would say it is several.
Michelle went on. "Well, your mother, other sisters and at least one cousin smoke so why not."
"We quitting when school starts," my 42-year-old-daughter Barbara said. "Our deal is subject to revision," Sarah, her 14-year-old daughter said.
"You've never smoked Michelle," the inquiring future mother-in-law asked. "Only when I win a case," my lawyer daughter said. "Then it's a cigar. I started to smoke one Friday when we finished the case but they sent the jury home with no verdict."
"So, when will you know," asked Sarah.
"When the verdict comes in," Michelle said. "I really think I'll order in and have one after lunch Monday," Michelle said as she smiled.
"Well good luck," Rachel said. "If you need one to tide you over, I have some," Rachel said.
"It looks like everyone has one," Michelle said. "I've never smoked a cigarette and I really don't ever inhale. I used to smoke dollar cigars but now the same brand costs 5 or 6 dollars."
Michelle called smoking cigars a "man thing" she took up about 8 years ago.
Rachel said she had never smoked a cigar and asked me if I had. I said no.
Michelle said "tell you what. Yall come over to my apartment Monday night and we'll all celebrate." Her guy asked about the office celebration. Michelle said she would do that, too. She also told her guy he could come and smoke or not.
It will great to bond more with his mother of whom I was once jealous. Now I have the younger man.
