Welcome back Bob. Hello Joe Camel. Sorry you had to go back to work Janice but it sounds like you are coping. Good luck at the games Ted. Remember, concentrate, concentrate, concentrate.
It's interesting how women treat their husband's knowledge of their smoking. Claudia says she takes cigarette home but still has not told her husband.
We had a group of 14 at our T.G.I.T breakfast, and 3 had never attended before. Toni, who is 31, told of smoking in her pre-teens and then never smoking in her teens. Bumming one of my Marlboro Lights, said she went shopping and a movie with a friend when she was 12. Each smoked a pack. She said she quit smoking before she was 13 and then had a few in her 20s. She said she never bought but has smoked more than a pack since turning 30.
Blanche, 39, said she took up smoking in college without her parent's knowledge. She met a guy who told her his mother had quit smoking and hates it so he asked her to quit. A couple of years later, Blanche was pregnant and her mother-in-law came over and said she has returned to smoking.
She said at the time the idea of a cigarette sickened her. She never went back although her mother-in-law never quit again.
Anita, almost my age, said she never smoked and the women in her family never smoked. Marci, who took them up at 18 after working her, asked Anita what she was doing here. Pretty soon you will be know as Anita a cigarette, Diane, a long-time smoker but only 19, said. We assured Anita she was free to attend and not smoke.
She said she could not believe Claudia was taking up smoking at the age of 35.
Our resident cigar smoker, who is 23, settled for a cigarette. She had a pack of Marlboro Medium with her.
The 36-year-old lady who had been quit for 4 years after stopping for her third pregnancy had her own pack of Virginia Slims menthol.
We have a girl named Evelyn who is 32 and looks like the soccer mom but smokes about 30 Newports a day and has been smoking since 10. When she said she took up smoking at 10, Toni said she was often able to slip in 5 a day before she turned 11.
Also not smoking among the group is this 55-year-old lady who sometimes bums and sometimes brings packs of her old brand. She said she was in her 20s when More came out and she smoked her way into the habit. She is only starting to quit after about 30 years of smoking.
