Subject: Ocotillo Wells Trip

A friend of mine gave me a great deal on a 1998 Honda Recon 250 and I figured it would be the perfect bike for Jenny to learn to ride on since it has an automatic clutch and electric start and a low maintenance shaft drive, etc. We were about due for a desert trip anyway. We sold the toy hauler trailer but I still have my car hauler flatbed in storage so we loaded up and headed out. We left our house about 9:30am on Saturday and after about 3 pit stops for the kids to use the bathroom and for Claire to eat, we finally made it out to my old stomping grounds at about 12:00 noon. Ocotillo Well's "Pole Line Road" aka Wolf Well road. It's only about a 96 mile trip from home and its just down Hwy 78.

Anyway here are some pictures of us riding. Jenny on her new used Honda Recon, Clay on his Xtreme X49 Quad and me on my lightly modded '01 Yamaha Raptor

Here's a pic of Jen and Emma

Its hard to get a good picture of all the kids looking at the camera.... somebody is always looking in the wrong direction!

Okay, here we go...

It was Emma's first time on the quad. she actually rode it by herself for a little bit but there's always plenty else to do out there... lots of dirt to play in.

Clay on his quad. He is actually wearing my spare helmet since I forgot his at home. He had to wear a beanie cap underneath it to make it fit. It worked!

Me and the kids sitting on the Raptor. Emma lookin' her cool self!

I bet you didn't know that Yamaha made a "baby seat" for their ATV's huh?? Actually Claire is sitting in my 6-pack cooler Rack.

I thought it would be cool to make it look like i was getting sideways with her in her "baby seat".

Simone chillin' under the Easy Up shade

We ended up pulling out at about 5:00 wishing that we had brought camping gear so we could stay over night and ride some more on Sunday. Oh well... maybe next time.

Hope everybody enjoys the pictures and hopefully the rest of the family besides me and Ernie have not forgotten about this board.

couple comments..

-how did you make the "taco"
-what is that on Claire's face?

re: looking like you are "going sideways" with baby in tow-- yeah- if that aint child endangerment-- well...

Yuri loves looking cool too. She likes her sunglasses..

next time you go out-- LET ME KNOW!!! I would've come- but I had more important things to do like- fixing shit around the house.... like I do all the time-- happy birthday to me. I've become a regular at Home Depot. If I don't show up there after a few days-- they wonder if I'm sick and send cards...

-how did you make the "taco" - front end came down after a 4th gear wheelie, terrain was a little rocky.
-what is that on Claire's face? in which picture? I don't see anything.

re: looking like you are "going sideways" with baby in tow-- yeah- if that aint child endangerment-- well... HA! you like that? It's OK! I'm sure Yamaha would never make a child safety seat for ATVs unless it was OK!
