I think everyone has a right to their opinion regarding the return of WCBS-FM. We all have different ideas on how the station should sound but it shows the true compassion we have for the music and this radio station.

The only thing I would correct you on Charlie is the age you put down for the point where advertisers consider us "to old. The ad agencies think we are not viable after the age of 54 which as far as I'm concerned is a farce.

CBS-FM will never please everybody whatever it does and how the format ultimately turns out as far as music, disc jockeys, etc. are concerned. Being the only one and survivle in commercial radio puts the station up against a true challenge.

The sales people have to really know how to sell this devoted audience. They have to approach potential local as well as national clients and this takes time and hard work.

The station has to properly promote itself. They have to have the talent do personal appearances. People involved in promotion have to come up with ways to make people aware of the fact that they have returned and why they should listen.

I am a person who has kept up with radio for 50 years. I write about it from time to time in an online publication.

I have said in my writing and to many people that radio has to stand out. The audience and the industry deserve better than what passes for good radio these days.

The opportunity is here for CBS-FM to make the case that radio can truly be fun to listen to. If this works, others will follow because like many businesses, radio has people who will follow the lead and the success record of others.

Let's hope CBS-FM is successful and they continue the direction they are taking for a long time. It's great to have some personality on the radio again.
