One of the things that is helping to kill oldies radio around the country is the approach to make an oldies station sound current. That is what they did at CBS FM when they hired Micky Dolenz to do mornings and made it a gossip type morning show.

I still believe that when it comes to oldies radio, people want to hear the songs as if they were listening to them for the first time. This does not mean you bring backthe Principal of the Year contest on WABCC or the British Invasion.

You can do personality radio on an oldies station and still make it sound great. That unfortunately is what they forgot about during the final three years at CBS FM.

They had the jocks to do it but they wrer restricted by the so called experts at Infinity.
