It is evident that for many of us, including myself, that this is still a very sensitive topic. To have something literally ripped away from you after 33 years is drastic, especially when it is unexpected. To allow the DJ's to say goodbye not only would have been a goodwill gesture, but would have also put some type of closure on it. I am old enough to remember many radio stations that either changed formats, or were sold resulting in a format change, and they all allowed their radio hosts, whom we had come to know as radio friends, say goodbye. I too, remember stations like WABC, WNEW-AM and WNEW-FM, WYNY (when it was country at 103.5), and others who all allowed a goodbye weekend, or at least a day to say goodbye and thank you. We would not have been happy to know about the change, but I can guarantee you that those of us who spent many years (33 in my case) listening to CBS-FM on a regular basis would have listened and called in ourselves to say thank you and goodbye. As much as it would have hurt us back then, it would have put closure on the topic. Instead, you still have many who are hurt, angry, and lost without a radio friend to turn to.
