Alan, is XM already installed in your 2004 Honda? Check with a reputable car stereo shop. They might be able to install a special tuner that will bypass XM and allow you to receive Sirius. A tuner that will do this for satellite-ready GM vehicles from 2003-06 is just now coming to market.

I think the car makers who got this right are the ones who made their vehicles satellite-ready and allowed the customer to make the choice. GM and Honda have an exclusive agreement with XM for OEM installations. Ford and DaimlerChrysler have a similar deal with Sirius.
