Subject: Airchecks available this week in memory of WCBS FM:

In commemoration of the great station WCBS FM once was and this being a year since the change to Jack, some radio tribute sites are highlighting the station this week. Hear are some examples.

On www.rockradioscrapbook.com, Dale R. patterson who runs the site, has examples of the station along with the jocks that were working there in 1978 in the Aircheck of the Week. Just click on where it says Aircheck of the week, read the explanation and listen to it. It is good.

Steve West at www.airchexx.com is highlighting the oldies format on WCBS FM with a different example every day this week. Bill Brown, Dan Ingram and others are featured.

On www.reelradio.com, Uncle Ricky (aka Richard Irwin) who is the curator of the site has airchecks of WCBS FM in the "hitbound" section. Just click on where it says hitbound and go from there.

Note: although Rock Radio Scrapbook and www.airchexx.com are free websites to listen to, they would not deny a voluntary contribution if you can afford one. It does cost a lot of money and requires much work to keep these sites going.

On www.reelradio.com, you have to be a subscriber to listen to the airchecks. It costs $12.00 a year and it is tax deductible. This was done back in February because Uncle Ricky has been out of work for a couple of years and he could not offer a free site after 10 years of being able to.

The music on these sites is scoped. This means you will not hear the songs all the way through. To do that, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and other organizations require the site owners to pay music licensing and other costs to provide unscoped airchecks.

Listen to the airchecks and remember when we had a full time oldies station. Hopefully at some point, we will again.
