As is his wont, one of the lads brought in his little Sirius radio/transmitter last night at the cab place. (It broadcasts onto an FM receiver and speakers on a choice of freuencies).

Since the employee pool is mostly younger than I, a lot of the evening was spent catching the Classic Rock channels. Lotsa AC/DC and Joan Jett and tender accoustic ballads by Metallica. Then for a few hours it was a Stern 100 channel replay of his show (DLR, Amy Fisher).

If the $500-for-life subscription and another hundred or so for a radio is worth it for many, this is the way to go. I'm speculating that even the $500 Lifers would soon be settling for any commercials and the clusterings just as were on the terrestrial radio from which they fled, becuase there are so many channels available. This choice seems like another of those 2006 AD decisions and collisions and repositionings.

In any case: The curators of modern FM music radio are making it easier and easier to make this decision.
