Whether the station meets their projections or not is another issue. The fact is the change was made because of money, because they thought they could do better with the new format. And when all is said and done, they still might.

You also assume CBS-FM as an oldies station would have continued to bill at past levels. That was headed in the wrong direction as some major advertisers had dropped out.

The change was motivated by an effort to raise revenues, not by anyone's taste in music. That point often gets obscured in the emotions stirred by the oldies format's demise.
