Beth,

An HD radio is a special radio receptor necessary for obtaining the HD-2 signal that 101.1FM will soon be putting out. A good receiver for home or car will not be cheap---a Boston Acoustics tabletop unit I saw was $499! HD radio is one way to get free programming with only paying the cost of the receiver instead of a satellite radio "subscription fee."

Personally, I will most likely get an HD radio---it also enhances the current signal of some other area radio stations in addition to receiving multiple signals---for example, I believe 106.7 Lite-FM has an HD signal that, with an HD receiver will enhance its signal to a near-CD quality audio.

Hope that clarifies your question!
