I'm 18 years old and LOVE the oldies. Not so much the post-Beatles era oldies but the doo-wop and rock and roll of the late 50's and early 60's. A lot of my friends and family listened to WCBSFM and the station could be heard in many stores in restuarants where I live. However, I now listen to WMTR-AM, and although the music doesn't always come in clear and the DJ's arent quite up to par with Cousin Brucie or Dan Ingram the playlist is excellent. I would even go as far as saying it's better than our beloved WCBSFM, especially in its last few years. While Dion's Runaround Sue, The Wanderer, and Teenage in Love where played on CBSFM, I never heard them play Lovers who Wander, Sandy, or Where or When. This is WMTR's strong point, they not only play the classic "hits" but also many obscure or less popular songs. While I'm upset oldies will probrally never return to WCBSFM, WMTR does an excellent job filling that void. I'd suggest you give it a listen, you won't be disapointed.
