Hi Vic,

The last available count of XM subscribers is 5,871,563. I don't have an exact number for Sirius, but it's approximately 3 million. According to Forbes. com, XM is expected to grow to 41 million by 2015. The prediction for Sirius is 33 million by 2015.

The cost of launching a satellite radio infrastructure is very high, and it will obviously take time to get some return on the investment. But, satellite radio is definitely here to stay.

Ask anyone who pays for XM or Sirius why they subscribe. They will tell you the same thing that I will...there is NOTHING worth listening to on AM or FM. Satellite radio offers better programming. Forget the CD quality audio. That's a plus, but its the programming that really counts.

Years ago, no one ever expected Cable or Satellite TV to steal viewers from network (broadcast) TV. All of the analysts called it a 'niche market' and said that it was suitable for rural areas where no TV existed. The same nay-sayers are now bashing XM and Sirius. I'll bet that both will grow faster than predicted.
