My opinion ? This happens everyday. You know, mediocre people are extremely sensitive, they detect an (another person's) good idea at thousands of miles. And, also, they tend to come into contact with other mediocres with such high afinity. They form clusters of mediocres that coalesce - and help each other, of course,

Thanks God mediocres do not fly - if such was the case, we would not even see the sun in a clear sky !

Keep it up ! And please, we want pictures of them all !!

It's the only case, however, when PhD program was terminated, and, after 5 years (actually, the Department gave me a part of a small room to write up the thesis) for stealing the research.

My experience is similar, my PhD was failed by an external and internal examiner, ostensibly for a single spelling error and "poor writing" after my MSc thesis being accepted without revisions and first publication from that work also accepted without revision. I had 3 papers published from my PhD when the thesis was failed with only a single unpublished chapter in a 180 page thesis where the r- and K-selection predictions of Southwood et al. 1974 were tested against 23 years of Adams River sockeye data obtained from the International Pacific Salmon Fishing Commission. The external examiner claimed my work would have limited value to other researchers despite no good example of r- and K-selection being found in the approximately 25 years since being proposed by EO Wilson and Robert A MacArthur and it was requested that the chapter be reframed in terms of "reaction norm" theory to stroke the ego of another McGill alumnai who was also on the NSERC operating grant committeee who had invested heavily in the theory, however, by doing so I'd lose academic freedom and support a theory that made no predictions, whereas, r- and K-selection made clear and concise predictions and the data fit the theory admirably. I corresponded with Southwood (former Vice-Chancellor at Oxford)who sent me a nice letter addressing me as Dr. _____ when I finally decided my senior supervisor's veracity had been worth nothing, and would continue to be worth nothing. My own tale is available under the titles 6 is 9, 911 and 411 because I wrote 3 books approximately 500 pages apiece to provide both a catharsis and deal with the fallout from my actions and the inaction and bad faith of McGill alumnai.

If it's any consolation to you personally, the belief of the author is that our work served as bait so liars and thieves would be captured in bad faith. You were chosen as a prospective victim only because you were capable of originality, something thieves of your work will never have. Creativity is a gift few people possess, what I find sad is that the final chapter of my thesis has never been and probably will never be published, at least not by me in my lifetime.

My former supervisor (he was forced to resign because my wife and former mother-in-law who were both McGill faculty members witnessed a letter I'd written after being assaulted by him because I'd caught him in yet another lie and liars don't like to be informed their duplicity is transparent) still lists my publications on his CV nearly 2 decades after being caught red-handed, yet I am not listed among his former postgraduate students. He is leaving his current employer at the end of the year to take up a post at Dalhousie after being employed by the private sector for years after my letters were received where it only took 31 months for the university to make him the offer he couldn't refuse (resign or get fired), whereas the author of the publications (where my supervisor's "contributions" consisted of "editorial support" and $150/yr financial support after making a promise of "a living wage" when I bought him lunch where being his first PhD student was discussed) has never had consistent employment despite being the author and sole researcher. As my PhD was a continuation of my MSc, my claim to originality which was also disputed was utter bullshit. That those incapable of creative work should stand in judgment of others' creativity indicated a paradigm shift (Kuhn) necessary. As my supervisor was ombudsperson when I was assaulted, it wouldn't have done any good to report my assault to him and the registered letter I'd mailed myself was reserved until my thesis was failed more than a year later. On failure of the thesis I was informed I might resubmit if I obtained permission to do so (blowing away a 2-year $35K postdoctoral fellowhip with the BC Science Council), but the subsequent breakup of a marriage to my wife Danielle that had survived 17+ years and loss of two children in addition to two psychiatric admissions instigated first by her (I was woken from sleep by two ambulance attendents and two police after 17 years of no domesic disputes) and her employer (McGill) approximately a year later that were legitimized by a Dr. Brown, who was also a McGill alumnai and who'd coincidentally known my wife's (deceased) father when they were both studying at McGill, led to my recognition I was on my own and against insurmountable odds. When the 4 letters I wrote tendering my resignation, documenting the assault, protesting unfullfilled promises and providing the ultimatum that McGill administrators provide another supervisor and department for me to resubmit my thesis to went ignored after several months with the Principal, Dean of Grad Studies and Research, Dean of Agriculture, Chairman of the Department (Renewable Resources) and my supervior all receiving copies, I wrote another letter instigating the 2nd psychiatric admission with Dr. Brown's approval, with a letter written to MUC Police requesting my supervisor be charged for my assault with a copy of the registered letter documenting the assault providing proof. I never heard from the MUC Police directly. We are not dealing with human beings but animals capable of extreme violence when cornered acting as a mob (where the mean IQ divided by the number of members of the mob provides the mob IQ).

While my books may require suspension of belief, I use somewhat unusual documentation which permits common themes to be elucidated. I found it interesting that Valery Fabriant (Concordia) faced similar circumstances a short time after the falure of my thesis which led him to an act of violence and would not recommend similar use of force. I myself have used The Bible, coincidental nouns appearing in rock music lyrics such as The Beatles roCai RaKuhn [sic], the time on the song (333) and other tools also involving astounding coincidences to show that we are but a single family and providing disrespect to other family members is no way to insure the perpetuation of the genes of those doing so. You'll excuse me for only making reference to the books I've written so if you are interested in following up, you'll have to discover them on the web yourself in addition to the pseudonym employed by their author. Past unpleasant experiences have led me to use disguise so that I do not have another run-in with those believing larceny provides rewards.

I was refused my doctorate from Capella University after I accused my advisor/chair/reviewer of academic plagiarism. She was a full time staff member who they later dismissed, as she was using my materials to design their Capstone Projects. She ingratiated herself to me and absconded with all my research which she flagrantly posted on the Internet. I sued her and won a judgment for 60K on a fiduciary breech because my attorney didn't provide the expert testimony required. It was reversed on appeal which was written with the facts completely misrepresented and morphed into what read like an opposite case. He also sued Capella University who dumped tons of fraudulent documents on the court and they granted the school summary judgment. This proved to be a published version that included severe misrepresentation of fact posted at the Inside Higher Education article that you carefully commented on. The appeal never went through because he missed the deadline by a day. I also worked full time for 5 years to be robbed of my earned degree despite the fact that they asked me to redo the research methodolgy four ways over the course of three years. Adding more insult to injury, the state courts I discover aren't willing to assist students. I feel for you and believe these criminal abuses by both staff and institutions need to stop. In an Internet world my allegations can be proved but the legislation isn't there to protect researchers, at least in MN. It is a hard thing to pay so dearly for something that you earned, but one must remember that the universe will inevitably find balance. Naturally, they must fail you in order to have a defense equivalent to the red herring argument meaning they need to have the attention drawn to something other than the truth. There are simply two kinds of people, just makers and takers. Hopefully your experience has given you the strength and focus to help other graduate researchers who can help to address this situation. i'm from romania in europe and i lost my doctoral degree because my both first and second advisors were charlatans. lucky me i published all my papers with isbn. the entire management of university were corupted because to avoid to be expeld i put a withdraw request and they had accepted it without trying to solve the problem. the romanian system is corupted too. sorry for me.

Recently, I read an article concluding that only less than 5% of humanity are creative and has the innovative thinking ability. What are the rest of the people going to do?

Assume that you have great knowledge on a field but you lack any creative ideas that work. This is state of many professors in academia and they don't want their power to be transferred to the ones who has the natural ability to see it in a different way!

In the first months of my Ph.D study, I noticed something was going wrong! In the following years, I had to work 16-18 hours a day to compensate for the leakage of my ideas and generated results to other students and postdocs... After I have received my Ph.D degree, I came to USA for postdoctoral experience. Things are running faster here: in the third day of my appointment, the professor was yelling at me to tell him/her my research ideas! Things could get crazy if you are here with a visa! I started searching for another postdoctoral position while keeping that professor busy with some low quality ideas. Luckily, I could be able to jump to another postdoctoral position. Here I find myself in organized abuse effort as a group: professor is dictating other students and postdocs to exploit my efforts without giving almost any credit! After 9 months of struggle I gave up on one of the results, and it is in the process of being published as if its one of his students idea. This professor has an excellent talent for developing strategies to project my findings as a part of his previous studies. He has incredibly well established methods for stealing output without giving the right credit. If you confront he immediately mumbles threats of firing...

I will try applying for an independent researcher position in US and if it doesn't work apply a position in my country and try doing some projects with very limited resources. I notice that most of my ideas that I could not be able to publish for some reason are being published by other researchers with a 3-5 years of time delay. So it may not be a huge loss for US anyway...

Innovation is the only source for growing economy. Natural born innovators should be protected by the governments somehow. Presently, it is not working for people like us.

Sorry, I noticed your message only now.

I agree with your summary, but we need to comprehend WHY such terrible change happened: there were scientists in all countries. I read today that the same degraded condition exists now in Russia, although they do not suspect it is completely the same situation as in the West. I see only one cause for it: lack of genuine interest in science. Everyone these days is talking about money. I see another side - the product catastrophe. Man had interest in creating product ever since he became sapience. From this point, only one people - jews - had no interest in creating product. It is quite shocking but it's true: there is nothing, no product of human hands that can be unearthed in the areas where jews lived, no product that can be attributed to them. They never built. No architecture, no painting, no metal, ceramics, glass, wood products. And that is in the areas where their neighbours created heavenly in their beauty products, created greatest civilizations, culture and art!!! And created Science!!!

I am not analysing here why jews never had any of these. I do not relate it to the genetic factors, and do relate it to the religion. Such was the peculiarity of judaism, its goals and method of existence - the only realm where jews operated was the realm of human relations.

The last century was, by all accounts, a jewish century. That led to the dominance of inter-human relations and neglect of the product, that is - worldwide. The last peoples who were making product (with their hands) are in Asia. They are, for that exact reason, became the hunted enemy of the West.

O, yaa, you are talking about science! So, I will repeat it again: in 12-th century Arabs had libraries, each with millions of volumes. On the other side Arabs never ever had social revolutions and social problems. They had zero interest in it. All they had was the genuine interest in creation of product. This became the conflict of civilizations; on one side is the genuine civilization, on the other side - rapidly declining Christian civilization (that was in the 12-th century as creative as one in Asia).

Well, we now are up to our ears in the damned realm of human relations. Wars, revolutions, minorities, perverts - that's the only thing, and that's the only thing you have now in science.

Your comments are very interesting and convincing.

Indeed, I was working with a ~russian ~jew person. My generalizations about these people is in parallel with your ideas. I also completely agree with your thoughts about the current state of science. Creating a product became of secondary importance and middle man spread to the heart of science like cancer.

Look now what kmarx and his -ism wanted. Read the Manifesto and you see one crucial recommendation/change proposed: To take means of production from the hands of individuals. Forbid private ownership of the means of production.
That's the end of the product as we knew it since the beginning of civilisation.

Who makes the product now? Corporations. This product has no cultural value, it's international. They, moreover, made the product maximally complicated and dependent on high tech., completely needlessly and ridiculously.

Compare windows. Plastic window needs huge chemical industry, degree of precision achievable on production lines at a huge cost, needs argon - rare gas, etc., etc. All that with one single purpose - to make the product that a carpenter cannot make. Plastic window emits poison, doesn't last, cannot be repaired, etc.

On the other side, govt. and corporations made raw materials unavailable to the individuals.

That was the goal of communists who could not work, who were afraid of people, full of envy and hatred toward every master and killed under different pretext over 100 millions of masters in the 20-th century.

At the same time the Left now blames "capitalism" for all wars and injustice. How ridiculous! Capitalism was eliminated about 60 years ago! We live under the masonic/jewish/corporate communism!

The Left says corporations only interested in profit. Fact: corporations made no profit (i. e. dividends) since about 1985-90. Not a penny! Instead, they made a fraud - told people that their investments grow in banks. So, nobody took their "growing" investments from the banks and nobody had the idea that by 2008 all investments were stolen by bankers. That's communism - absolute, uncontrollable rule by those who became unelected "captains of industry", appointed by the top communists (who, yes, are very rich communists).

The "captains" practically abolished the Law, replaced it with Administrative Law which is a communist fraud again, not a law. It was denounced in the 30's by the Chief Justice of England.

It's a very long story to tell. For the start, read "Power without property" by Adolf Berle, ab. 1956. But that was only the beginning, though he already called corporate "captains" commissars.
