I think its better to assist a well known director and learn that way as in any case you have to assist someone at some point of time even if you do a course

There's no formulla to become a director. I'd prefer making my own films, be that using HD cam, mini dv, a digital cam or even a mobile camera. Idea is to shoot and improvise
