Subject: Pies are banned from the Horse Shoe Bar

According to this Story on the BBC website

The traditional pie and pint at a famous Glasgow bar has come to an end, on the orders of the management.
The Horse Shoe bar in Drury Street has withdrawn pies from its menu on the instruction of its owners Mitchells and Butlers.

The question is how is removing a menu item going to "broaden the pub's appeal to a wider customer base"

and how come a new and extended menu is extended when you take stuff away? and what counts as a decline in demand over the years when as soon as this is mooted people point out how much these food items are part of their lives.

This smacks of the food police somewhere along the line, who have had it in for the pie for a long time. In some places, what passes of for a pie is a dish holding the meat with only a puff pastry lid on the top

Give me proper pies any time.
