Perhaps HB wasn't so forthcoming about the status of Jon Kitna.

Double whammy

Jon Kitna, QB DET
News: The Lions have announced that they have placed QB Jon Kitna on Injured Reserve with what a team trainer called "an acute exacerbation of a chronic condition" in his back. He will be out for the rest of the season -- so long as he's on the Lions' roster. Reports suggest that the club might eventually come to an agreement to release him. "After extensive examination and consultation with the team medical staff, it became clear that placing Jon on injured/reserve was the right decision," Lions GM Martin Mayhew announced. "Jon and I met today and discussed moving forward with respect to his rehabilitation which will be done in coordination with our medical staff."
Analysis: Kitna is now a safe drop from all Fantasy rosters. Dan Orlovsky will be the starting quarterback for the Lions for now, with second-year passer Drew Stanton eventually getting a chance to play. None of these quarterbacks are expected to be good enough for Fantasy use at this point, though Stanton has potential in dynasty/keeper leagues.
