I hate to play Monday Morning Quarterback at the Water Cooler, on a Tuesday after Labor Day, but I have to.
This post, will surely be followed by a paragraph or two, of a mirade of jumbled thoughts that will have to be decoded by other readers, but here I go,
roll up the skirt, its' time to trim the bush....
# 1 Reach of the FFL Draft (9/1/07)
39th Selection Overall, 5th Round, WR Deion Branch, Seahawks
I was hard pressed on Sunday to find one, even just one, publication that had Branch ranked in the Top 40 Receivers Listing. Yardage, TD's League, whatever, Around 40 but never lower. The eighth on-line publication I reviewed on Monday, had him 25th ranked.
Ok, fine, he'll be Seattle's # 1 WR, fine, I get it. With 7 RB's taken in the first round alone, it would be difficult to justify taking a 25th ranked WR in the fifth round of our all-star draft. I'm thinking the guy who bilked Rob for his fantasy subscription was wearing aqua blue sunglasses and drinking teal green kool-aid.
If he turns out to be a Top 10 producing fantasy receiver, then I am Roy Williams.
1A. Less of a Stretch, QB Drew Brees 9th Overall Selelction, 1st Pick of Round 2
I can't find a list that has him ranked higher than 5th. Who's he throwing to, WR Flash-in-the-Pan 2nd WR Marques Colston who has never been a # 1 wideout in the NFL (drawing double-coverage for the 1st time), and oft-injured never completed a season, Devery Henderson. I realize Joe Horn was in decline & didn't have past totals & Reggie Bush can receive out of the backfield, but Joe is in Hotlanta, now, and Reggie only took 4 to the house with one as a punt return.
Alex Smith may gets some starts.
regardless, should be a cool season. Best of Luck to everyone, including Branch & Brees.
