Subject: pregnant platies

I have platties also and can visually see the eyed fry this morning,April 6,2001. I have a smaller tank which floats inside the 10 gallon that they are contained, so I'm going to put her in there today and wait for results. She had her first batch about 2 mouths ago, but I 'm not sure exactly. I managed to save twofrom that batch. The first time I didn't know any signs of when or if she was pregnant but I've been watching her. Mine seem to be harty fish and are bottom feeding as well as top feeders. They tend to mimic new species of fish I have in the tank. I had three rainbow trout in the same tank for a week and since have removed them but they also tryed to feed and swim really fast along with the trout. But the trout also seemed too stress them because the three platties I have always had there fins erect. Through observing the platties I took this to be a sign of stress and/or agression. I will keep you posted on the birth.
