Subject: Advice please!

The Constant Gardner is on TV tonight, and so is The Downfall, and I should also get around to watching a DVD a friend loaned me, The Lives of the Others.

So.... which one do I choose? And please no remarks about my oh so wild plans for Friday night, my two best friends are traipsing around Ireland and Berlin and left me all alone! :-(

The one time we tried to watch The Constant Gardener, Richard fell asleep in the first 20 minutes, and I started drifting off about 10 minutes later. (Not to do with the film quality, think it was just too much cider!)

As for the others, I've never seen them. Surely if you've got the DVD of The Lives of Others you could watch it another time, and go for The Downfall tonight?

By the way, Gabs, you really do know how to pick happy, cheery Friday night films, don't you? :-p

or vampiry or something?

not much use here am I? sorry

haven't seen any of them I'm afraid so can't give an opinion one way or the other, I have heard The Constant Gardner is a excellent film if you have trouble sleeping, works pretty quick apparantly and you'll soon find youself in the land of nod, if that's where you want to be that is...

I'm waffling, ignore me, it's the beer talking :-)

I've seen all three films, and all three are excellent. That said, I didn't like The Constant Gardener *quite* as much as everyone else seemed to, whereas I thought the two German films were outstanding. Personally I think "The Lives of Others" is the best.

But, and this really is a big but, the others are totally right. All three are totally unsuitable Friday night viewing. You should get drunk and watch Die Hard or something, if you're really not going out. Seriously. (And nothing really beats Bruce Willis in a vest and lots of explosions. You know I'm right. You probably just won't admit it.)

Who cares if it's Friday, I won't let myself be influenced by conventional social rules! *shakes fist*

(I'm willing to get drunk though. Or at least tipsy!)

How dare you say Bruce Willis movies are dumb! You infidel.

Anyway, if you think you're having a lame Friday night, consider me. I'm still in the office. I want to go home but everyone else in the tech team is still here and peer pressure is making me feel compelled to stay too. (I do have a glass of wine, so it's not exactly slave labour ...)

I know you're an hour behind me but dude, you need to show peer pressure the finger and get the hell out of there. Wine or no wine!
