In reply to: andypandy 's message, "My Mac loves me............." on 11:32:08 09/30/09 Wed

we've got three people down with the flu.

everyone left is grumpy and hateful and disappointed with life. so we're all feeding off of another.

not gonna lie...it's a den of grrr.

plus my kid is grumpy and on the cusp of being sick. the house is a mess. we've a sleepover on friday to clean up for. all of my clothes are 4-6 sizes too big and i haven't the money right now to buy new ones. which leads me to hating my job cuz i'm underpaid. and i've done nothing for halloween which depresses and stresses me out.

blah.

you don't mean the dreaded piggy flu do you? Apparently there's a lot of folks off at Uni with it at the moment, one of my ex-colleagues says almost every department is struggling to keep going and to expect another letter from the powers that be soon for help, I've enough to do here thanks very much.

Sorry things are bad for you at the moment and hope Jude is ok

*hugs*

they're not testing people because all tests have to go through the CDC and it takes forever and apparently there's a big back log.

i guess it's not time for the regular flu...so people with flu like symptoms are being treated as having the pig flu.

if you're out sick here...you can't come back until you are symptom free for 24 hrs and you have to get the OK from the health center here before you're allowed back to class or work.

blurgh. students have only been back a week and it's spreading like crazy. the uni just north of us have had two student deaths linked to the flu. gyuh!

no matter how careful you are when you're out and about every day there's always that risk but we can't wrap ourselves in cotton wool, hopefully it will die out and there will be no more deaths, fingers crossed.

But I messed up my foot while trying to install a lamp (long story) and could hardly walk, my toe turned purple and was really swollen. I wasn't sure whether it was sprained or broken so the next day I spontaneously stopped by the clinic in the train station. Half an hour later I'd gotten it checked out, x-rayed and was back on my way to uni. It's only a sprain and I feel stupid for making such a deal out of it but it reminded me how fortunate I am to be able to. It seems like a luxury but it shouldn't be, you know?

Anyway. I hope you don't get sick and that the spread dies out. No more deaths please!

I found the stupidest song ever! Seriously, it reaches new levels of awfulness even if you can't understand the lyrics.

Enjoy. Sorry for hijacking this post.

I'm making an Italian cream cake, "Coconut and pecans are incorporated in a moist white cake topped with cream cheese frosting enhanced with flaky coconut and crunchy pecans."

I'm using walnuts, and I think this is going to be my new favorite dessert.

It sounds delicious, I love anything with walnuts in, I make a totally yummy creamy coleslaw with the usual ingrediants plus chopped apple, mango, peach, pear and a thick layer of walnuts on top, every time I have the family over I have to make two massive bowls of the stuff, they can't get enough!!

And by the way, you didn't hijack the thread, its nice to hear from you, how are you doing now?

Enjoy. And get the treadmill ready!

Apart from the foot, I don't know, it's hard. No one close to me has ever died before and you have this idea of how it is and then when it happens and it's not like you thought, it's hard to deal with. I thought I'd be inconsolable for weeks straight. We had a housewarming party on Wednesday and it was so much fun and I know she wouldn't have wanted me to be unhappy but I feel bad about having forgotten about her, even just for a few hours. The media isn't really helping, our tabloid (we only have one, really) actually printed her full name, picture and death certificate. But then Roman Polanski came along, so..!

I've more or less perfected it over the years by trial and error, usual ingrediants for colesalaw, white and red cabbage, onion, carrots, celery, parsnip, mango, apple, peach, pear and of course, walnuts!! oh and creme fraiche with the addition of some English Mustard for the dressing, try just making a little bit for yourself first and experiment with the additional ingrediants, you can add or subtract to your taste, anything goes with colesalaw as far as I'm concerned!!

Hope your foot is better now.

You musn't beat yourself up if you momentarily forget your friend, its only human and doesn't mean you're forgetting her altogether, you have to carry on after all and I'm sure she would want you to try and relax and enjoy yourself now and again, it will get easier I promise, I know you probably don't think so now but it will, you'll get to a point where you only remember all the good things about your friendship with her, be glad you knew her and had her in your life if only for a short while.

*hugs*
