surely the "challenge" of working on a relationship and making an effort to get to know someone really well is ultimately worth it in the end if there's a chance they could end up being someone you want to stay with isn't it?

Of course building a relationship and getting to know someone are things men enjoy. It's just when you use the word "challenging" that wasn't what it made me think of. I went more to the "Jesus Christ she is driving me insane!" place.
