i was waiting for the "new man" announcement once you mentioned happy and smiley. heh. congrats!
looks like i've got cancer. found out yesterday. meh. i'm gonna live. no worries. they just need to take my thyroid and some lymph nodes out...maybe radiate me a bit...and i'll be golden. not gonna lie...i have small panic attacks when i think about it...it's a very very weird feeling knowing you've something deadly in ya. bizarre. surgery is june 25th. of course...first question out of my mouth was "so...what kinda scar are we talkin' here." *wink* cuz you know vanity comes first.
and i'm going crazy with the twilight books. i mean i really feel like a crazy person. if i hadn't been drunk off my ass yesterday (yeah...i went home after the doctor and got drunk) i would have finished the fourth book. four books in four days. pa...wait for it...thetic.
ps. don't mention the "C" stuff on facebook. i'm not telling extended family that i have cancer...just that i need surgery.
need. coffee.

You sound like you're dealing better with than I would. So the doctor was clear about the prognosis? Some surgery and it'll all be gone? Waiting until the 25th is going to feel like an eternity. I really feel for you. I say just get druk every night from now until then. That is tried and tested coping method, recognised and approved by all good Darren Briertons the world over.

apparently once you get cancer cells in ya...word spreads around that you're an awesome host...so they have to check you every so often to make sure more cells to come back.
but from this particular cancer...it looks good! not thrilled about having a scar on my neck...but i'm hoping i can get away with the whole "bit by my vampire boyfriend" thingy.
but i will be getting drunk a lot...because this whole thing is scary as shiznit!

A friend of mine has a scar right in the middle of her neck from an operation and I seriously didn't notice until she pointed it out. I don't think it's a very noticable place tbh. And there are always creams and stuff to help the healing process.
And I really hope the scarring will be the only problem left to deal with once the surgery is over.

yeah...my sis mentioned a cream i could get by prescription. i'm going to look into that.
up side is i'm losin' weight from the stress of it all! *chuckle* i should have just opted for the cancer earlier and skipped the whole lapband surgery thing!
kinda funny...close guy friends at work are blaming everything bitchy i do now on the cancer. ex...i said somethin' bitchtastic yesterday and dan comes back with "gretchen...i think we all know that's the cancer talkin'" he's evil...but i'd rather go that way than be serious about it all.

Better to laugh than cry is my motto as well (like when last week while clubbing I met a 33 year old doctor and we were getting along smashingly and then he started dropping hints and when I let him know that I wasn't just going to jump into bed with him, he suddendly decided to go. MEN.)
