Subject: Hey, so Basel pretty and kinda cu... SWEET JESUS YOU CAN SMOKE INSIDE
Lovely time. Watch show got a little dull after a couple of hours, but lots of pretty things and pretty people. But we had incredible food. I think Swiss food is the most underrated cuisine in Europe but don't tell Gabs that because I like teasing her. Veal sausages with onion sauce and rösti, schnitzel with asparagus, trout, fondue. Mmmmmmm. Basel was completely packed and the only hotel we could get into was so shit it was the shittest hotel I've ever stayed in, but it was so bad it just ended up being comical. We stayed out drinking until dawn -- everyone was completely smashed. Went to a very cool kinda indie studenty bar by the river, some super swish posh places and then as it got later and later the only places still open were downright sleazy. Didn't do anything even remotely cultural except maybe eat excellent food but I feel I had a very thorough Basel experience. The old part of the town is very pretty.

Loooooove schnitzel with asparagus and trout, however. Too bad we didn't get to meet but I'm happy to hear you had a smashing time nevertheless! :)

Hating rösti is just crazy -- DZR, 12:16:50 04/01/09 Wed [1] (212.198.136.138)
It's super sunny here (Paris) today. Still a bit chilly in the shade, but it feels like spring has finally arrived.

I love gratin dauphinois too, in fact I think I can safely say I love all potato dishes but I think rosti is one of my favourites
and chips of course, a big bag of hot crispy chips from the chippy on the way home from the pub!!
