Should I stay at home this weekend and get the housework done or go on a fun filled extravaganza to exotic Blackpool with my family? (save me!!)

What are you all up to, anything exciting?

I think an entire weekend of cleaning the toilet would be preferable. Most horrible and depressing place I've ever been. The whole place stank of chip fat.

I have no idea what I'm doing this weekend. Heavy snow is forecast for the whole weekend, so I may not be venturing out very far at all. Also I'm a little behind schedule with the project I'm currently working on (a super low-bandwidth site for Rolex -- primarily for the Chinese market (no broadband) and mobile users),so maybe I'll just stay in the warm and do some work.

I need to find a proper apartment here, but I'm stuck in the classic Catch-22 of not being able to get an apartment without a French bank account, and not being able to get a French bank account without an apartment (they want proof of paying for utility bills and such, and the tiny studio apartment I'm being put up in is a freebie from the company, so I don't have any bills, and no proof that I even live there).

surely that would be proof enough to enable you to open an account?

I really don't think I'll be going to Blackpool, can't face it to be honest, I quite agree its a horrible place, why my relative had to go and buy a gift shop there I don't know, she would have been much better off in Keswick in the Lake District, she had an opportunity to buy a small tea/gift shop there but decided on Blackpool, god knows why, I would certainly been a regular visitor to Keswick, its a lovely place. Also the weather forecast is bad here too, don't fancy travelling in heavy snowstorms if they can be avoided thank you very much.

I think I'm just going to snuggle down this weekend go with the flow, I also will be taking some work home, can't concentrate today, the students are very noisy and demanding, little pests.

the whole bank vs apartment thing that is.

andy....clean. i've never been to blackpool...but for some reason i feel like it's midevil and the poor are living in mud huts while the king randomly slays people that displease him. that's what i have in my head at least.

home sick. cleaning and doing laundry so i don't have to fuck with it this weekend.

ps. dudes. i'm seriously seriously starting to get into that dude at work. not good. inappropriateness is just blurting out of my mouth on a daily basis now. pps. he's not got a girlfriend. gyuh.

Actually I'd have thought it would be the same in most places. It's very difficult to get a bank account without proof of address. But most landlords won't accept cash, so in order to get a flat, and thereby an address, you need a bank account!

Andy is right, I'll need to get the company to write me a letter of guarantee.

Sorry to hear you are sick. Get well soon.

And you are pretty much spot on with how you picture Blackpool. But we should ask Kashy -- he's practically from there ...
