I'd vowed to stop watching it, but then I mistakenly got the impression that this was the last season and so carried on. I was annoyed when I found out it wasn't. It just feels so needlessly drawn out to me.

Because it really seemed to pick up speed since the season got shortened. Let me know your thoughts on the finale when you watch it because there was so much going on that I didn't feel it was drawn-out at all... and we're getting some answers too!

I have no doubt that the finale will be action-packed, and if it is I will probably enjoy it. There have been individual episodes in every season where they've really done edge-of-the-seat stuff. It's all the other episodes that drive me up the wall. The ones with completely pointless back story, aimless side stories, and where things move forward at a glacial pace. I don't mind long, drawn-out, character-driven stories -- I think The Wire is the most amazing TV ever made. It's just that so much of Lost seems completely pointless, like they are just milking its popularity.
