We really need more of this stuff. A lot more. The crazies are slowly taking over.
A couple of weeks ago there was a documentary on UK TV about the rise of fundamentalist Christians in the UK. Apparently there are 45 "faith schools" (semi-independent schools with partial state funding) teaching a curriculum imported from America which is OFSTED approved in which they are taught that the Earth and the Moon are between 6000 and 10000 years old. They showed a "science" exam paper for, I think, 8 year olds in which one of the questions was "How many days did it take God to create the Earth?" I was so angry by the end of it I barely knew what to do with myself. I know this stuff has been plaguing America for a while now, but it is a fairly recent thing here and seems to have crept in under the radar.
I missed the documentary you speak of Darren, maybe that's a good thing, sounds like I'd have buggered up the tv by throwing something at it, what is wrong with these people?

Just realised the documentary is up on YouTube -- DZR, 15:45:29 06/11/08 Wed [1] (82.6.99.15)
This the first part. At 5:50 in the part in the school starts.
I just can't get my head around the fact that this school, though independent, is state supported and OFSTED approved. How can it possibly be okay to teach children, who have no choice in the matter, patent nonsense and pass it off as fact?
it's horrifying, as you say, what are OFSTED thinking of?
This stupid country is going to the dogs if we are going to allow something as insidious as this to go any further, I'd love to know why OFSTED gave support for them, and I's also like to know why they are state supported.
