Give it a clean -- if it's optical then just clean the lens on the bottom, if it's not optical then remove the little rubber ball on the bottom and clean it and wipe the inside of the mouse with a cotton bud.

I do clean it occasionally, optical ones seem so sensitive, I just got a new mouse matt too, maybe that has something to do with it.

... then that will cause it to jump. Optical mice work best on a plain surface.

I have a David Boreanaz mouse pad at work, I stroke his face constantly every day!!
