from what i understand, they came with a civilization long ago to try and make the world liveable. they were driven away by the dragons, and those that were forgotten formed the civilization that is there today. they got the dragons out of the tunnels with makeshift traps and took them over, and then started a civilization there. the general populace does what anybody else would do- trying to survive, and make a living. none of them think highly of the gods, though- there have been no churches built, there is no prayer- there is only fear and hate.
