She smiled a little at that, sweetly, shaking her head. "No..no you are not an animal." She paused for a second before she spoke again. She wanted to make sure she got what she was going to say right so she didn't give him the wrong impression or idea and she was starting to understand how important this whole communication thing in a relationship really was. They hadn't had a lot of that before and their relationship hadn't gone all that smoothly, she just wanted things to go better this time around. "I never liked when girls went running to their boyfriends to fight their fights for them. I always thought it meant they were weak or that they didn't have enough faith in themselves to handle things themselves." She pursed her lips together, letting her fingers twist in his dark hair. "Then...you came along and suddenly I realized that...I like being taken care of. I am not saying I want you to fight all my fights for me but I appreciate how protective you are, I really do. I've never had anyone care for me like that..being raised in foster homes I always had to protect myself, you know? No one looked out for me...hell most of the times my foster parents were the ones that I had to be on the lookout for..some sadistic bastards out there and even when I got out of there and into the Navy..it was always just me." She bit her lip a little, her brow furrowed. "I've never been in love before but I know that when you were sick or hurt..I lost it. Before we left, I ended up in a practical screaming match with Remy for even sending you on this mission..."
