(He smiled through the kiss when her stomach growled, affectionately running his hands over her sides to keep her warm as she spoke, his eyes lingering on her damp features. He wanted to remember this moment, the peaceful companionable silence that settled when she trailed off made an odd knot form in his stomach and for a moment his brow furrowed as though he were confused... He felt a strong tug to protect her then, a different sort of protection than the way he'd felt in the truck when she'd been shot.. this was the sort of feeling Remy had been trying to explain to him that one night when they'd been laying on the balcony of his apartment, half drunk and discussing women. He'd been confounded by Remy's claim that he'd only been with a single woman and had tried to get him to admit he was lying... but Remy had only gone on to explain to him what love felt like and how those emotions had made him feel like he could never be with another woman because he'd had too much stake in needing to protect Shay's heart.. The way Haylie's hand moved back over his hair before she spoke made his eyes soften and brought him to a strong realization. He really did love her.. and not just in a lusty, 'wow, we're great in bed', sort of way.. but in the head over heels, can't breath without you sort of way. The fact that he didn't move right away when she covered herself back up, coupled with the fact that he didn't respond in his normal fashion to her inuendo about their time together later that night only added to the expression on his features to show he was having a pivotal moment inside.)

  - She slipped on her leather jacket and then put her purse back over her shoulder before cocking her brow as she waited for him, tapping her foot playfully. "If you hurry up and get your ass out here I'll even let you drive..." She coerced in a sing-song voice, her good mood evident by her teasing and laughter. Absently she stuck a piece of gum in her mouth, leaning against the counter and doodling on a pad of paper as she waited for him to come out. Honestly, she didn't really care if he drove all the time, she just didn't want him agitating his back any. It was natural to her, the way she took care of him, she didn't really think about it she just went with her insticts and her instincts just told her to care for the man she loved.
