Subject: (He tried to tell himself that he had no real reason to feel bad for her appearing put out by the blonde, but he did.. and that unnerved him a bit. Taking another long drink from his glass as though to give himself some strength, he shrugged.) It's a name most people forget... that's all that matters. (He said in a slightly offhanded tone, looking over at her again as he ran the back of his hand over his mouth.) I told her that I was engaged so she would leave me alone.. do you mind? (He winked at her, wondering what her reaction would be. He was going to keep the impulsive statement to himself, but after having heard her turn the blonde's appearance against him like that it made him childishly hope to make her eat the words. Hell, he didn't want to be attracted to her like he was, he just couldn't help it.. and damn it if it didn't bug him the way he felt her look down at him for his choice in women.)

He didn't know why he mentally reminded him to store away the information about her ring preference since he wasn't even sure about his intentions yet, but it did make her moment of leaning across him all the more potent to his system. He caught the scent of her shampoo and her skin that made his breath catch in his throat and he had to clear it before he could speak.) I.. uh.. I'll remember that. (He said with a bit of a laugh to cover the moment's hesitation. He focused on the beer list and then looked at his glass, finishing off the rest of it before he nodded.) (He felt like the nerves on his arm were on fire from her touch, and was so utterly confused by his response to her that for a moment all he could do was look at her like she was doing it to him on purpose.)
