SLASH Talks About 'Chinese Democracy' Again: 'I'm Really Excited'
Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash recently spoke to "The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show" on the U.K.'s Virgin Radio about the band's long-awaited album "Chinese Democracy", which is expected to be released later in the year. During the interview, Slash confirmed that the record is done and he said a "very official source" had already heard it, according to NME.com. He added: "Yeah, it's going to happen, I've been made aware it's been heard. I'm really excited, it's been a long time waiting to see what the next step around the corner was going to be for him (Axl Rose), we know where everybody else is, but we were wondering what he was going to be doing. It's coming out in March and apparently it sounds great."

Tracks slated to appear on the 13 track album include "Better", "There Was A Time" and "The Blues".

Although Axl and Slash have not spoken in the last 10 years, the VELVET REVOLVER guitarist said he was pleased that the record is finally going to see the light of day.

He added: "I've always been supportive over that thing, even though it's been turned in to a big controversial blah blah blah thing.

"When I left I was pretty pissed off for having to leave in the first place. After a while all the boo-haha that was stirred and all the negative press, sort of went in his direction, so I'm just waiting for the record to come out, so I'm glad where it's got to the point that that's happening."

It's a sure thing!!

The New York Post's Page Six reports :

Stereo nightclub owners Barry Mullineaux and Mike Satsky were closing up their Chelsea hotspot at 5:30 a.m. the other morning when they encountered elusive GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose at the front door. The braided rocker was with bandmates and a bevy of beauties wanting to keep his 44th birthday bash going. Rose was so eager to get inside the club that he offered the owners a little bribe — an exclusive listening party for his yet-to-be released album, "Chinese Democracy". Axl dispatched his driver to retrieve the unreleased CD and the owners proceeded to play host, bartender and DJ to the posse till 8 a.m.

blabbermouth

A full-length version of another track recorded during the sessions for GUNS N' ROSES' much-anticipated "Chinese Democracy" album has been leaked — this time of the song "There Was A Time", or "T.W.A.T."

The track, which has been rumored to exist for some time within the GUNS N' ROSES fan community, is the third new GN'R song to make its way online in two days — joiing the full-length leak of the song "I.R.S." and a one-minute, 20-second clip of a track called "Better". GUNS N' ROSES' management has reportedly been asking webmasters to delete the files from their sites, and to also remove any links to them, in an effort to stop their spread. It's unknown where the leaks originated.

Although GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose has yet to officially comment on the leaks, Lisa Reed, wife of longtime GN'R member Dizzy Reed, reportedly let her feelings be known in an online post. 'I just don't understand it," she wrote with regards to the leak. "If people claim to love the band and Axl so much, why on earth would you do something you know will piss them off? Especially when all signs point to it getting closer and closer. It's like shaking all your Christmas presents on the 23rd of December and figuring out what they are. No surprise and you ruined the fun for the giver. I just as much as anyone want this record to come out. but BE PATIENT!'"

Axl Rose has said fans would get to hear new music this year, and former lead guitarist Slash has been telling interviewers that "Chinese Democracy" will be out in March, but no official release date has been announced.

I've heard it. If you're a diehard for their old sound, you will be bummed by all but a few tracks. The rest of it sounds nothing like what you would expect from G&R. At least Axl is pushing the limits of what people expect from him, so I wish him well. It's from the pushing that artforms evolve, and rock needs a major shot in the ass right now. :)

Everytime I registered for the G'n'R forums(because you are not allowed to lurk) I would get in and the files were already deleted. I guess I'll have to wait.

I heard several songs already, he played them live at rio and other places...madagaskar is a silly ballad but I kinda like it...I think thats what its called

makes me wonder though, and I always say this, if only chris and the guys would release an album every 4 years now and have it to be almost as good SG/rage, that would be a great thing...I dont need an album every year that only makes me upset

Hi Xylofon, glad you made it!

I agree too on how the next Audioslave cd will sound in such a short time period. That's what I loved about SG was they took their time on making it the best.It probably drove them crazy at times and sometimes perfection isn't always obtainable, but for some reason the end result was better than anything AS has even tried to do. Ican't understand this concept of faster and more efficient sense of things.

thank you, I missed you all...I didnt have internet for awhile, moved into a new apartment...

can I say something? I dont like the abbreviations of the old names...I feel like we´re in a dark room and Im asking: "who said that?" whenever someone doesnt write their name...

and also, I found out last week chris sued susan...and Ive been really upset about it...and I cant even go back and see what everyone wrote cause the forum is gone completely...I guess that also turned into an argument so I didnt want to mention it but at the same time I didnt want to miss out on any details...Im just pissed that shes got the demos...that REALLY pisses me off...how the hell is he going to "stick to singing" if she´s holding the gems away...I mean, are those the recording with layne as well...Ive always admired susan deeply so I fuckin hope I can keep that image intact...just let go of the music...also, if it was understood that they would be sent later on and they werent, that means he left in a fight...which is fine I guess...shit, I wrote more than I intended...nice to see you all ; )

Sorry xylofon I got so used to doing that here I didn't think you would be wondering who was who.

tg is me.

Yes Chris did sue Susan and he has two seperate lawsuits the first one was for his grammies and demos and such. I can picture Susan telling him if he wants them to come get them. The second lawsuit which was filed around the time they shut the forum down was for earnings she made while managing SG. He says in his suit that she didn't have a lisence to book shows in California, but he is only suing for what she earned in 2005.(? statute of limitations I think) There was alot said and ofcourse the argument turned personal and there wasn't really a discussion about the case. Anyway there are the court documents and if you go to blabbermouth.com and search Chris Cornell it will show you what articles were posted on the forum originally.

[> Re: Chinese Democracy G'n'R -- tg, 17:32:41 02/19/06 Sun [1]

here's the first suit.

AUDIOSLAVE frontman Chris Cornell is suing his ex-wife, Susan Silver, alleging she conspired to divert money that belonged to Cornell to other SOUNDGARDEN band members. The lawsuit also claims that Silver held his library of music, lyrics and two Grammys hostage.

The suit charges that Silver, who managed Cornell's previous band, is trying to cash in on SOUNDGARDEN, in part out of "personal animus" for [Cornell].

The couple married in 1990. They separated 12 years later, then divorced.

Cornell alleges Silver has a "desire to harm [him], which has apparently emanated at least in part from the dissolution of their personal relationship, and her incentive to further her career by maximizing the interests of other SOUNDGARDEN members." Cornell says Silver's actions were willful, intentional, malicious and despicable.

In the lawsuit, Cornell says his damages exceed $1 million. He is also seeking punitive damages.

Chris Cornell's nine-page legal complaint/court document against his former wife can be downloaded at this location (.PDF file, 465 KB).

Chris has a one-year-old daughter named Toni from his current wife, Vicky. The couple is expecting their second child.

Here's the second suit.

is reporting that the lawsuit between former SOUNDGARDEN/current AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell and ex-wife and ex-manager Susan Silver has taken a surprising turn as Cornell filed new legal papers that could financially devastate Silver.

In a petition to California's Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, Cornell alleges that his ex-wife was not licensed to manage his band, therefore she should be ordered to return all the money she ever received. Sources tell TMZ.com that Silver earned hundreds of thousands of dollars as band manager.

The couple is already embroiled in a civil lawsuit in which Cornell claims that Silver diverted funds due to him to other band members. He also claimed that she was holding certain personal items of his hostage, including two Grammys, demo tracks and original lyrics.

Silver has described that lawsuit to TMZ.com as "baseless and absurd." Silver could not be reached for comment on the new filing with Labor Standards.

The couple married in 1990 and stayed together for 12 years before parting ways in 2002. SOUNDGARDEN released three studio albums over the course of the marriage: 1991's "Badmotorfinger", 1994's "Superunknown" and 1996's "Down on the Upside".

I'm keeping up with this!!

QUEEN guitarist Brian May has confirmed in a posting on his official web site that the recently leaked version of the new GUNS N' ROSES track "Catcher in the Rye" features a guest appearance by May on lead guitar.

"Catcher in the Rye" is one of several songs recorded during the sessions for GUNS N' ROSES' much-anticipated "Chinese Democracy" album that have been leaked during the recent weeks, following "I.R.S.", "There Was A Time" (or "T.W.A.T.") and "Better". GUNS N' ROSES' management has reportedly been asking webmasters to delete the files from their sites, and to also remove any links to them, in an effort to stop their spread. It's unknown where the leaks originated.

Commented May: "'Catcher in the Rye' is a great track .. I was pretty surprised to find a mix of it in my inbox this week .... after all these years. I wonder who leaked this stuff. Yes, my guitar is there, nice and crisply recorded. It was a blast doing the sessions. I had flown out to L.A. specially to play on the record for Axl [Rose, GUNS N' ROSES frontman]. I've sat on whatever I have or know about these songs ever since that moment .... out of respect for Axl .... Confidentiality is part of respect for me. So I will watch with interest. I like the track a lot and always did ... and it still sounds very fresh ... The thing that hits you first is that incredible, incredible voice ... We've been missing it for far too long. Axl is magic."

Axl Rose has said fans would get to hear new music this year, and former lead guitarist Slash has been telling interviewers that "Chinese Democracy" will be out in March, but no official release date has been announced.

Funny this was bumped.

I watched the GNR behind the music last night, and at the end it said "Chinese Democracy is due in late 2004."

Good stuff.
