Subject: Summer Forum Party in Cleveland

Mentioned this on another thread, but lemme put it out in the open!

If we planned a forum party in Cleveland this summer at the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, who would want/try to come?

OMG I would try to make it to Cleveland, am I invited?

It's 476 km/297 miles from here, how long would that be to drive, like 6 hours, am I right?

Depending on the date, I'd love to finally meet you glorious bastards. It could be tricky this summer with a kid on the way and all, but Cleveland is only about 3 hours away from me, so I could probably even do it in one day.

I'm definitely down. It's only about an hour away for me. I am in!

You could totally count me in for trying my hardest to make it there. (would all depend on the date)

I'm definitely pumped for this. You guys are the only ones who love Chris Cornell as much as I do (even if you don't really like AS). My friends don't really appreciate Chris Cornell as much as I do.

i'd for sure try. it would depend on the dates though. i may have a weekly saturday committment reading tarot (should find out soon) and then i will have to plan to not miss too many saturdays.

but yeah, i'd love to hang w/you all. we are overdue for a party, and cleveland is way more central than a lot of places.

just don't even think i will go to that greyhound station...been there done that a couple times and it was ehhh memorable each time!

Cleveland probably wouldn't have occurred to me as a summer vacation destination, but that actually sounds kind of appealing.

ps-- I'm not sure it was a great idea to talk about this forum on the as.com site. It's better to keep it 'underground' for various reasons, including 'security'. Please don't post the URL there, but certainly invite appropriate cc.com visitors via PMs.

Well that's a party then! Especially if some of you that are so far away (like Alice and Chrys) could make it. I'm gonna do some research and see what's going on this summer up there and check some prices on stuff, etc. and I'll let ya'll know. AlicemudMomma - I know you can get a roundtrip flight for less than $300 to CAK (Akron-Canton) and I could pick you up. They have good deals at that particular airport to Florida. Chrys - I wouldn't even want to pick you up at that Greyhound stop! That's how scary that one is! But I would - I'll check into things for you too. 23 - when are you guys due? TG - of course you're invited - all are. :)

What about RD2 (who lives there - come on!) and Leo?

We're due in late September, but I doubt I'd be comfortable leaving the wife for more than a day any time during the last trimester. But like I said, I'm thinking I could drive up early in the morning and drive back that same night.

That's what I thought Twan and wifey are due September 23rd. It might be wise of me to bet some money on that surething. ;-)

This is really getting me excited. I think this would be alot of fun. Maybe if we are organized, we'll be able to figure out hotel/motel accomadations.

Leo said she would go in the other thread.

this might be hard for me to attend. heehe.
nice idea jes! the rock hall isn't anything
stellar (imo), but something everyone should
visit at least once. last time i was there,
they had a nice lennon exhibit.

yeah that greyhound station has awful memories attached to it. it's funny cuz i was actually sorta stranded at the portland one, and all these strange people asked me for drugs, and i got bothered some by a cop, but overall i have fond memories of that place, and kinda smile when i pass through nowadays like on the way back from the writing conference.

cleveland on the other hand...it only took a few hours there each time to be a little freaked. there are some rude motherfuckers who work there! also there have been monstrous delays every time, and once i actually slept on the floor in line for an hour (on clothes and stuff - no way would i actually touch that floor). yuck.

no if i go, i'll fly.

Yeah, I'm in. Summer, I am so much more flexible. I'm not even sure if Cleveland is driveable from here, but I'll look into it.

Let's get planning!

Leo, it's totally drivable. I'm guessing 6 hours from Philly, give or take.

Chrys - "and all these strange people asked me for drugs"

That's odd.

Seriously.

odd but true. i get to portland and a few hours later some guy asks me if i'm high and doesn't believe i'm not, and then asks if i want to sell drugs w/him that night. then some couple, like my age, asked me for some pot, and then someone leaning against the side of the building asked me. i had never been asked for drugs in my life (or tried them, at that point). welcome to the northwest!

Craziness. It's like someone slapped a sign on your back. Or maybe there's some famous local dealer who goes by "Albino Jessie" or something.

"I hear Albino Jessie has some crazy Cali funk right now."

[> Re: Summer Forum Party in Cleveland -- lump, 08:27:56 02/24/06 Fri [1]

LOL! Albino Jessie. I have this game I've played when bored since 1993 that's like Monopoly, but you go from town to town & buy drugs. The names on it are like that! I usually get shot or beaten.

Anyhow, I can't find a good anything happening this summer on www.rockhall.com. SO...I'll look for other plans. We could all visit the hall in the day (for $500 we can see the vault!) and see a show at night or something. I'll check for other goings on there and in Akron. I'm searching - but if anyone else has any ideas let me know.

Leo - it's 6 1/2 hours from my door to Hershey. It takes me 30 to 45 minutes to get up to Cleveland, so it might be around 7 hours.

We can all gather around this pic and say a little prayer. It's at the Hall Of Fame.

Hey...Can I come? I have no idea how far Cleveland is from Wisconsin but I would love to personally meet you guys and secondly see the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. It would be really cool and I could use a little time away....by then I may actually have cash to do something.

I may drive, especially if I can find a passenger, but I'll check to see how much flights are too. Jes, if you need any help, let me know. Maybe I should just google Cleveland, because I am totally clueless.

From Wisconsin it would probably take you about Nine hours or a little less. How fast do you drive?

Could we have a Burning Man theme, and at the end of the party...torch the Rock & roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock and Roll hall of Fame should be located in the restroom at CBGB's :)

O.K so my estimation of it taking 6 hours is more like 10. I think I would either fly or take the train to get there.

How about in June/July?

Dude, Twan and Lump, that is farckin' freaky! We have a thing for "29"s in my family. Hubby and kiddo are both born on 29 as well as my grandmother. Another crazy family fact..both of my husband and I's maternal grandmothers were named Dorothy. His grandmother was born on June 6 and mine died on June 6.

got some dates today at a meeting for the saturday market, so i am just gonna put it up there. the market will have "off" on memorial day weekend, the weekend of june 17th, and the weekend of august 12th. so if it is during any of those weekends, i'm IN. if it is during the week, i'm IN. if it is a diff weekend, it will be a lot more iffy, as i already will miss two other "on" saturdays. don't know how anyone else's summer looks, but since my dates are in, i thought i'd throw them out there.

I say we should do it in June instead of August. I'm going to be in Mexico for a wedding during August. As a matter of fact, the wedding is on August 12. I am so down for this, though.
