Randy is a male or female given name. Randy derives from the male name Randall or Randolph, meaning Wolf with a shield, or from the female name Miranda meaning admirable, wonderful, or miraculous.

The name is common in the United States, and somewhat common in Canada, but is rare in the United Kingdom, Australia and other English speaking countries where it could be embarrassing. The word, in Commonwealth English, is a colloquial expression equivalent to the American word horny, which implies friskiness or naughtiness, usually with sexual undertones.
