Philip K. Dick in his 1977 novel, A Scanner Darkly. Set in the near future, the tale follows an undercover detective named Fred (Reeves) as he spies on a drug ring. During his investigation, Fred becomes addicted to Substance D and develops a split personality.



I actually ran out and bought WIRED just so I could read this article, but they put the whole thing online. Darn me.

It's a great book. Total mind-fuck.

I've been excited about this flick for awhile. It's been pushed back multiple times now.

yes great story. I didn't read it until after reading the first adapted screenplay by Charlie Kaufman. Then I got the book after. You said it mind fuck. lol All in all for trying to re-write someone's work (strange thing that it is) Charlie K. did an excellent job with it. I think the look and direction would have gone to a different place if Kaufman's work was used.

I been excited for this one fore a really long time as well. Pretty much since I thought Kaufman was doing it.

I think I am really going to like the look of this a lot, kinda works for this in a way. I hope they pulled it off.
