Windsor) Windsor Spitfires General Manager, Warren Rychel, today announced that the Spitfires have acquired Blake Parlett, a 17 year-old Right Defenseman from the Barrie Colts as well as the Colts 2nd Round pick in the 2008 OHL Draft, the Colts 2nd Round Pick in the 2010 OHL Draft and future considerations.

In exchange the Spitfires sent Left Defenseman Mike Weber, Right Winger Thomas Battani and a 5th Round Pick in the 2007 OHL Draft to the Colts.

“It is very difficult to have traded our Captain Mike Weber, a true Spitfire on and off the ice”, commented Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel, “He will be sorely missed by our organization and he wish him all the best in his quest for an OHL Championship as well as in his professional career with the Buffalo Sabres.”

“Thomas Battani is in the early stages of his development and will evolve into a solid OHL player”, said Spitfires Head Coach Bob Boughner, “He represented the Windsor Spitfires well on and off the ice.”

Warren Rychel offered his views on acquiring Blake Parlett, “we are very excited about acquiring Parlett, a former 1st round pick of the Barrie Colts. He will be a cornerstone for our defence for many years to come. Parlett has excellent size (6’2, 205 lbs) and is very mobile, and will be eligible for the 2007 NHL Draft.

Parlett will be in the Spitfires lineup tomorrow when the Spitfires take on the Sarnia Sting at Windsor Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
